7 Closet Essentials to Get You Through Your Week
Want to seamlessly get through your week without putting a lot of thought or effort in what you’re going to wear?
Below are my top picks of the seven wardrobe essential that are the foundation of a great closet.
They are in no particular order but you can’t go wrong if you have these items in your wardrobe.
1. A Fabu Pair of Jeans
Who doesn’t love a good pair of jeans?
They’re almost like a second skin. While there are a plethora of styles and color options to choose from you can’t go wrong with a pair of indigo, straight legged or flared.
What’s great about this solid-hued jean is its versatility. The denim says it casual but the indigo says it’s modern understated and chic.
Throw on your favorite kitten-heeled sling backs or that chunky bootie and you’ll turn heads.
2. A Straight Legged Ponte Pant
A Ponte pant is the full Monty…you get style and comfort wrapped in one. What I like about a straight legged pant is that it can be worn under or over your boot giving you a few style options to choose from.
3. A Figure Flattering Skirt
Depending on your body type and what you like this can be anything from a form fitting pencil skirt to a flouncy A-line skirt. Just above or below the knee is always a good modern length.
If you’re looking for a little more flair, try a midi or maxi skirt as a hero statement piece. It can be especially tricky when it comes to pairing your skirt with your top so always double check to make sure you get that perfect balance.
4. The “Little Black Dress” (aka LBD)
Accessorize it with your unique and creative flair and you’ve got as many looks as you can imagine.
What I love about the LBD…it doesn’t have to be dressy to look dressy.
5. A White Shirt
The dress up work horse of tops is the button down. You can never go wrong with this closet staple.
Dress it up or dress it down, it can take you from day into the evening with a few minor tweaks.
6. A Basic Tee
The dress down work horse of tops is the basic tee. Be it short, three-quarter, or long sleeved, it works well with any outfit.
Get a little creative and try it with that Little Black Dress for that urban modern look.
7. A Jacket – Tailored or Denim-Style
I personally believe that every women should own a denim or denim-style jacket but the choice is yours.
The iconic denim jacket goes with almost anything and it comes in more than the traditional blue.
If you work in a corporate environment the tailored or fitted jacket will be your best bet, but if you work in a business casual environment whose dress code allows denim/jean attire you can’t go wrong with a denim style jacket, or should I say DSJ.
With these 7 essentials in your closet you can't go wrong!
